I really want to install Windows XP or Windows 7 on an old notebook. Only every attitude would be the right one Funnily not, because always as soon as the setup starts the blue screen comes. Can any one still write me some ideas, which attitudes I could still try?
Because as soon as the setup starts the blue screen comes.
This indicates a hardware failure of the notebook. Without fix, the installation will not succeed.
Ne that can't really be, I went a few days ago only from Windows 10 on Windows 8.1 down. And the installation ran without problems! Funnily. But with Windows XP, Vista and 7. As already said Bluescreen.
How old is the notebook?
(I'm wondering if it's new enough to have a UEFI, then you have to switch to "Legacy" or "BIOS" until Windows 7).
Is it. I bought it in 2014, it's about the Lenovo G50-30. I actually wanted to hang a couple of pictures on the question. Only the upload of the pictures is stuck! When I make the UEFI settings then comes only booting the message (Checking Media) and then he shows me only the networks. And if I change it to Legacy Support and Legacy First, then the blue screen comes with Windows Setup!
Then you have to switch to Windows 7 on "Legacy" or "BIOS".
That's right, but that does not produce a blue screen.
But you already install with a CD? Windows 7 does not have a USB installation…
Windows 7 and certainly Windows XP come from the pre-UEFI time.
So it may well be that they simply do not work on your relatively new notebook.
But. Shortly after I got the notebook, I also installed Windows 7 on it, and it worked flawlessly without any problems. At that time I used the same settings as today. Legacy Support, Legacy First and then Windows 7 OS selected in Bios. And it worked wonderfully with the installation. And now 5 years later, it only crashes on every Windows setup!
Of course I install with CD Intern as well as Extern. But without success.
After reading all the comments:
Are you installing from CD? Is the CD still flawless? Can the CD be copied?
At which point exactly does the blue screen come? Once you start the Setup.exe from the CD?
Yes, but the problem is solved. I idiot forgot to confirm in Bios in Load Settings extra on (Yes). ♀️
I've forgotten that all the time you have to do that if you want to downgrade.
I would also have a tip for old notebooks: Install the operating system Cloudready. This is a customized Chrome OS. This turns your laptop into a super-fast Chromebook for free. It works like this:
Install this tool: https://www.balena.io/...io/etcher/ This is called balenaEtcher and you can use it to create bootable sticks from image files
Here is the download of Cloudready: https://davrt8itj6cgg.cloudfront.net/cloudready-free-74.3.14-32-bit/cloudready-free-74.3.14-32-bit.zip Then extract the ZIP. You will receive an IMG or BIN file.
Then flash them with balenaEtcher on a blank formatted USB stick
Boot the created stick on the notebook. Just follow the instructions of the installer. He immediately sets up the WLAN and he offers the possibility to completely delete the hard disk. After completing the installation and the first reboot, just log in with the Google Account. In the settings of the section Plugins you can install Flash, Codecs and Widevine with just one click. Then you can also use DRM protected content. Restart and your Chromebook is ready. All updates then run automatically in the background.
Cloudready goes off like a rocket. The browser and the Chrome apps start without delay. The voice controls OK Google and Google Cloud Print also work.
Here's a video of what Cloudready looks like:
