my question is now whether it is in the indirect speech: Yesterday Jason wanted to know who had given HER / HIM the laptop or Yesterday Jason wanted to know who had given ME the laptop means or both goes… Please with justification
These are content-wise different statements, not grammatical versions of a single statement.
This is just me.
In the verbal speech "Who gave you the laptop, Peter / Jane?" or in the introductory sentence in the indirect speech, Yesterday Jason wanted to know Peter / Jane who had given him / her the laptop.
