Replace laptop DVD drive with ssd?

I have an optical DVD drive on my laptop. I expanded it and determined that it must have a Micro Sata connection. As far as I know, the internal SSD disks only have Sata. Can I simply connect the SSD with a microsata to sata adapter? Is this recognized by the PC on the DVD drive connection? I want to install my operating system on it to get the old laptop working again

DVD drives are always optical drives. There's no need to emphasize that.

Just google for HDD Caddy… Are mounting frames to install an HDD or SSD in the slot for the optical drive.

Thanks that is super helpful! It doesn't matter whether it's called hdd or ssd caddy, right? So something like that:

tinxi 2.5 "SSD HDD Caddy SATA 3.0 Hard Drive Frame Adapter 12.7mm SATA to SATA Drive Bay for HP Dell Acer Asus Samsung Lenovo Laptop https://www.amazon.de/...07SDR4NC3/

Ahh just notice that this model is Sata on Sata nvm ^^
