I recently asked how I can best play DVD games on a laptop WITHOUT an integrated DVD drive.
Several, sometimes even community experts (thank you for going out again), said that an external DVD drive would be the best choice. I already asked a little how expensive they are (many around 20 to 40 euro), and I will buy such an external DVD drive.
However, none of those who responded had any experience with the functionality of PC games in an external drive. Some said that films on DVD work without any problems and that this should also apply to games.
My question now: Do you have any experience with that? That you can easily and easily start a game (e.g. From 2015) on the laptop and then play it when you insert it into the external drive?
As I said, I just want to be on the safe side, so SERIOUS comments are welcome.
Your computer doesn't care whether the DVD drive is connected internally and via SATA or externally via USB. It makes absolutely no difference to the games.
Whether and how smoothly the game then runs on your laptop depends of course on the game and the hardware in your laptop.
An external DVD drive has a USB interface, so the speed could slow down. But you could create a virtual DVD directly on the computer for this.
