I want to set up external hard drives at home. Had in the past more often the problem that my PC has broken and all the photos, etc. Were gone.
I would prefer to buy an external storage, but have read that there z.b. There are possibilities with several hard drives. Of course, the whole thing would have to be as safe as possible so that nothing could be lost.
Does anyone know anything about you and can give good advice on what you should ideally acquire in this case. I would like to set up access to these hard drives via my laptop PC etc. Have a Fritzbox 7590th
Depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. NAS systems are not cheap, also because you have to buy every hard drive you want twice.
I think so 150-200 euro I would want to spend maximum
So I use a very normal external 1 TB Hdd and that is great can indeed take more 4TB or 16TB
And why do not you just buy an external hard drive for the PC?
Ever had a broken one, then everything was gone again.
This is a normal external hard drive?
Why do not you just get several disks of the same size (preferably different batches or manufacturers) and copy the data to all of them? Backup!
A better NAS server without hard drive costs already loosely 150 euro.
What do you always do with it? I have never broken a hard drive.
Apart from that: ALWAYS have everything in at least two copies. So for example on the PC + external backup.
I think is always associated with a lot of effort, with every change, everything must be transferred to the other also I want to have external access.
External access? What exactly do you mean by…
Yes this is a very normal Usb 3.0 disk. If your router has a USB port for media storage, if so, you can also integrate the hard drive into the network and so access from smartphone, tablet, TV, Internet-enabled hi-fi system and and and on top. I only use it for photos and music.
Okay, did I understand the principle of nas correctly? There are two hard disks on which the same is always stored. If one breaks down, ne new must in pure so it can continue to run?
Yes the fritzbox has this function, would actually synonymous conceivable
Well in the NAS, you can only have a hard drive, then it's just like an external hard drive with Wi-Fi.
Otherwise, I would recommend 2 hard drives to be mirrored. If one of them fails, it does not matter, you just have to replace it.
But just buy an external hard drive and synchronize the data regularly?
Ideally would like to see the disk in the workplace and access it as if it were just installed and direct things without another Zwischenprogram save on it.
How does this synchronize, is there a specific application or function? Or do you mean copying with it?
Ok dan make it so as long as you do not have the most secret data from CIA FBI and co home I think that they are quite safe
Just invest in a NAS (backup still has to be) with at least two disks mirrored…
In addition an external plate on it, the z.b. Every week once the changes are copied…
I think that should go okay ^^
what do you recommend as an external memory?
I use the free program "FreeFileSync". But many hard disk manufacturers also offer their own software solutions. There are certainly many more alternatives.
So I built my own out of a 1 TB Hdd from an old notebook and at Saturn just bought an empty housing was mega cheap and totally simple plug and play cost me 16 euro. If you want to have a good record i would take a ssd there's good from san disk. But best of all, you go into the electronics market of your confidence and look around there. Theoretically, you could take any of the main thing she has usb.
