I switched to Linux after many complications with Windows. Now I need Windows 10 again because of my work. The laptop has already been delivered with an activated Windows 10 license.
Of course, I completely hacked Windows 10 off the record. Now to the question:
Does my Windows 10 license activate itself when I install Windows?

There was no Windows license with the delivery package!
The laptop here has already been shipped with the Windows 10 license enabled.

If they do and in the worst case, you buy yourself an OEM version of Windows 10 this costs only 13 euro but hardware is bound to play a role in a laptop because you can't expand the motherboard anyway.
For almost all computers with pre-installed Windows 10, the product key is stored in the BIOS, there's no license sticker (with the product key) more on the computer.
The computer is registered with a so-called. Digital license (this is an ID, which is formed from the built-in hardware of the computer) at the MS activation server and identified, a product key is not needed (you can't read!).
You can on this computer as often as a Windows 10 reinstall (no matter what you have done in between with the calculator), as long as you do not change essential parts of the hardware (hard drive / SSD / Graka is OK, when replacing a motherboard is the digital License but not recognized).
Windows 10 is automatically re-enabled after installation.
