Can't upgrade / downgrade Windows 10?

an
10

At the moment I have the Windows Insider Build "Version 2004 (Build 21292.1010)" and now I want to go to 20h2 WITHOUT losing my files and programs. I've already tried a Windows installation stick, but it tells me that I can't keep my data and apps if I want to go to an older version of Windows, or something like that. And at the moment I have no idea what else to try… And if anyone asks why I want a stable release installed on the spot: Quite simply, Windows is just crazy for me at the moment. Um, because, as an example, I want to play minecraft or some other game, and then I can only move the mouse pointer, but don't click anything until I've restarted Windows Explorer completely, the mouse gets caught there or something, at least My skin in Minecraft Windows 10 Edition always looks towards the center of the screen. I also have Windows crashes all the time, e.g. With VMWare, when I started it, windows is always smeared (but I got it fixed, it was just a wrong setting in Windows), or stop playing, etc. As I said, I hope someone can help me with my problem.

But I still have a second Windows installation on my laptop with Windows 10 20H2 and I'm now simply interested in whether it is possible that I "drag" Windows onto the other Windows, so to speak, may sound strange, but I hope you understand what I'm my. So it would definitely be cool if you could help me with that. Of course I also assume a "No, it doesn't work".

What the hell.

1. Barely legible.

2. Nope. Simply nope.

Of course you lose everything if you reinstall windows via stick, is that the whole point?

Up from drivers, UEFI, etc. Can't you just pull the Windows over and expect a clean installation.

Install the Windows upgrade Assistant and let it update like any normal person. What speaks against it? Just have to see if the preview build works.

In the settings you should also be able to exit the preview channel.

You can also simply try repairing Windows with sfc scannow and the DISM command.

an

When I open the windows upgrade assistant, it says "Thanks for your update" Leave the preview channel option I'm already on. I've already used Sfc scannow and dism, chkdsk too… I've reinstalled all the drivers I can think of. Just because of the mouse problem, it could be that the Explorer freezes or something, because I always have to restart the explorer. And sorry for my long question and description.

He

A couple of skips would really help.

Did you download the assistant again?

The way it looks to me, you've broken more than you repaired. The only thing I can think of is an in-place upgrade. Your system files are all replaced by those of an ISO, but your data is retained.

an

I downloaded the brand new assistant, just yesterday at noon

He

Very funny

Your windows seems to be pretty much something else.

Usually I hate system re-installations but in your case… Either inplace upgrade or reinstallation.

However, it is also relatively stupid to run the preview on the computer, you have vms for that.

an

Yes i noticed that with preview too…

an

Do you vlt. Nen link to an inplace upgrade iso for build 21292?

He

No, unfortunately not

However, I would back up all data anyway and try the next best 2004 ISO.

When it is running again you let sfc scannow and dism (checkhealth, restore health and scanhealth) fix the whole thing and then update it to 20h2, which will replace a lot anyway.

an

Thanks for the help, I found a developer preview inplace upgrade on a website that worked… Now everything is working again, and now I'm waiting for the next big update.

He

Glad I could help.
