I'm looking for a good laptop that I can play emulators on. Shouldn't be too expensive, but just play well with the emulator. Can someone recommend one to me?
It depends on the emulators. Games from older game console generations (NES, SNES, MegaDrive, PS1, N64) are also created by old computers
For the PCSX2, pSX (don't know if you can play PSX games on the PCSX2) and for the Dolphin Emulator, N64, I play via Retrode 2.
And I would like a laptop so that I can also play with friends.
PSX Games, i.e. PS1 Games, are played using a dedicated emulator. Every 15 year old PC should be able to play PS1 games with ease.
It looks more difficult with the PS2 emulation. The emulator for this is the PCSX2. The PS2 emulation is rather complicated and needs more powerful hardware for it. But even then there's no guarantee that every game will run smoothly. Many games do not even run at all or only run very incorrectly. For the PS2 emulation, I would use a better 4 core, 8 GB RAM and a good graphics chip
Thanks, what would be the best for you? And what about the Dolphin Emulator?
Dolphin is actually less problematic than PS2. A decent laptop should do that without any problems
All right and what would you recommend for one?
I'm not that knowledgeable about laptops. But maybe you are aiming for a laptop and can send me the link. I could check the dates
Maybe the one here: https://m-de.gearbest.com/ultrabooks/pp_009922259197.html?wid=1349303 ¤cy = EUR & vip = 79901916 & gclid = CjwKCAjw2dD7BRASEiwAWCtCbzyOUVl9WGfnFdOGuYn9d5bgeXPTHpXaGha6xT9Oeyn2YELWbX9XU
These are (much) too weak for PS2 emulation. Things are getting tricky at Dolphin too. The laptop should be in the price range of 600-800 euro. Then something could come of it.
Phew, ok thank you very much.
I even recommend a raspberry pi 3 or 4 for your project.
a raspi costs around 40 euro, plus a microSD card and a power supply.
you only have to load retropie onto the card
you already have a retro console where only emulators run.
You can connect the raspi to the controller via BT / USB and to the TV via HDMI.
The games (ROMS) can be uploaded via WLAN or LAN.
sega, NES, SNES, N64, gameboy, gameboy color, advance, PS 1 etc. Can be played on them.
