Hello everyone i have a little laptop from 2002 with windows xp on it and i would like to boot it with bodhi linux from a san disk usb stick when i was in the boot menu i selected it and then clicked on bodhilinux install in the next menu errors and a command line where I have no idea what to enter what can I do that the laptop starts with bodhi linux?

ky

Create the stick like this:

First format the stick with this tool https://www.wintotal.de/download/fat32formatter/ to FAT32.
Download the Bodhi Linux ISO now: https://sourceforge.net/...o/download This is the 32bit version. You should take this if you don't have more than 4GB of RAM.
Then iron the Bodhi Linux ISO onto the stick with Unetbootin https://unetbootin.github.io/.
Now boot the stick. Then it works without any problems.

And that's exactly how I did it and unfortunately it doesn't work): it also recognizes the usbstick but then there comes an error, maybe I'll try another one

I still have a solution: The Plop Bootmanager Six. This is a boot CD that contains a USB bootloader. This avoids most of the problems that arise when booting from the stick. Here is the download: https://download.plop.at/pbm6/pbm6-test-20210119.zip

Unzip the zip. After unpacking you will find a subfolder with the name 2_bios. Inside there's another subfolder called cdrom. There's an ISO file in there. Then burn this with this tool http://www.freeisoburner.com/ on an empty CD.

Then insert this burned CD into the laptop and plug in the stick. Switch on and boot from CD. Then the Plop Boot Manager Six boot menu appears. There you can then boot from the stick. Now it should work.

The laptop has no cd drive there are certain usb sticks with which it works in any case? I took a sandisk usbstick mini

Try to create the stick with it:

balenaEtcher: https://www.balena.io/...io/etcher/

Rufus: https://rufus.ie/de/

do

Okay, should I empty the whole stick again first?

ky

BalenaEtcher does this automatically. With Rufus you can choose the formatting.

do

What do I then have to select in balenaetcher?

ky

At balenaEtcher the procedure is as follows:

Plug in the stick.
Start balenaEtcher.
Then select the ISO.
Then select the stick.
Finally click on Flash.
