Linux Mint USB stick not booting?

I have Linux Mint XFD on a laptop with Rufus. But when I go to the BIOS and select the USB stick there it starts normally Windows 10. But I have something on the USB stick. Or do I have to do something beforehand?

You can either try YUMI (https://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/). Sometimes that alone can solve the problem.

Otherwise you have to set the boot order in the BIOS so that the stick is at the top and if it is UEFI you also have to set to LEGACY.

I think your USB stick is missing the boot flag. This tells the BIOS that there's a bootable system on the stick. Otherwise the stick is ignored.

The boot flag can be set with "diskpart" under Windows and "parted" under Linux. You can find instructions on the Internet.

Not every BIOS can boot from a USB stick. But it should be possible to call up a boot menu, the stick should also be displayed there.
For me this is possible with F8 (wherever you can also reach the BIOS).
