I got a new pc but I don't have a monitor so I want to use my laptop. How does it work? I'm not a professional so if it is not so complicated to explain.
As far as I know this is not possible, so I would think of something but that would be far too complicated… But there are very cheap monitors. Can you pick one for around 80 euro.
This is actually not possible, you would first have to have a screen for the PC to set it up. You could also unscrew the laptop, remove the screen, and then use one. Connect the adapter to the PC with HDMI.
Have one of the only Dvi connections but the pc only has hdmi
That does not work like this.
You need a CapCard, … But then you can buy a monitor right away…
Alternatively, use a TV as a monitor.
Then buy an adapter for 3 euro DVI to HDMI
Ok thanks for your help
You can control your PC remotely directly via the LAN using remote access software that runs on your laptop. Since both devices run in a network, the latency should not really be a problem either. Unless you want to do e-sports level gaming on your PC. Then you have to connect the PC to any monitor at least once so that you can install the software on it. I would not recommend hanging the LAN cable directly between PC and laptop. Rather both devices on the same router or on an Ethernet switch.
With VNC, but the VNC server on the PC should already be running… Without a bad monitor setup. So you would have to go to the neighbor and with a USB stick the previously downloaded UltraVNC e.g. Install as server
and then access it from the laptop as a viewer. Of course, you can also use Windows' own remote desktop, but both must be Microsoft. With UltraVNC not

PC and notebook must have set the network card in the same IP range.
For example,
PC = 192.168.0.10
Laptop = 192.168.0.11
subnet = 255.255.255.0, gateway: none
if your router assigns IP addresses automatically and both laptop and PC are on it, then you have to find out which IP the PC got. It is therefore better that you assign the addresses firmly.
oh yes: don't forget to set up the server as a service, because nobody is logged in when you turn on the PC. Service means: it runs without anyone being logged on… Even when starting up.
do not just double-click when setting up, but call the right mouse button and admin settings or something (2nd menu item). Don't forget the password you entered. To avoid confusion, I would delete the ViewOnly password.
