Laptop slower with windows 10 installation?

I'm considering upgrading my laptop with Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, would that have any disadvantages, such as my laptop running slower than before? I'm not very familiar with it and would be happy to receive an answer.

Windows 10 has the same requirements as Windows 8.1, the speed is the same. In addition, the upgrade is still free.

If you turn off the desktop effects in Windows 10, it even runs faster.

There are no disadvantages, but rather advantages, because you are then up to date.

If you reinstall your laptop from scratch, it will be even faster in the beginning than it is now.

However, it is normal that the devices slow down over time, as they are littered (this happens, for example, through installing programs or surfing the Internet).

Thank you for the helpful answer!

Do I have to restart or restore my PC from scratch when upgrading to Windows 10? I would like to keep all my programs.

If you perform the upgrade with the Media Creation Tool (no reinstallation), your programs, files and settings are retained. Here is the download: https://www.microsoft.com/...ndows10%20

It is also recommended that you create a Microsoft account beforehand. With it you log in to Windows 10 after you have upgraded. The Windows 10 activation will be saved there permanently.

If you have to reinstall Windows 10, simply log into Windows 10 with your Microsoft account again. Then Windows 10 will be activated again automatically. This is called a digital license.

Thanks, you really helped me.

No, your laptop won't slow down.
For the upgrade, I advise you to proceed as shown in the following video.
Your data, installed programs and settings are retained.

Charge the battery fully beforehand and leave the power supply connected to be on the safe side.

If your Wi-Fi connection is not really stable, establish an Internet connection via LAN.
