Hi, I connected my laptop to an external monitor, only I have one problem. My external monitor actually has a resolution of 2560 x 1440, but my laptop only has a resolution of 1980 x 1080 … Now when I connect my laptop, my external monitor has the resolution of the laptop, ie 1980 x 1080. I already have the Looked at the settings, I can't set it higher… Do you have any ideas what can be set differently?
Actually, it should set itself automatically, if not using the manual settings on the screen. But it may be that your graphics card can't do that.
I guess you can't do anything else. On most models, the output on laptops is not as powerful as the actual screen itself. In this case, 1080p seems to be the maximum resolution your output can achieve, even if it may go higher internally.
That depends on whether you want to mirror or extend the desktop of the laptop. Which of the two do you want to do?
Have a gaming laptop, and it will definitely handle it, so it must be due to the settings🤔
Hmm OK 😯

Then please check whether "Extend this monitor" is really entered in the Windows display settings.
Another question… What kind of connection did you use to connect the monitor?
Yep that's it
What do your Windows settings look like? Is the field for the resolution simply grayed out? Or is the 1440p resolution simply not suggested to you?
Oh, and what kind of cable do you use to connect to the monitor?
I'm using HDMI and I'm not offered a higher resolution
* HDMI on the laptop and DVI-D on the monitor
So from HDMI to DVI
