I got a new laptop and want to buy an antivirus.
I'm grateful for every tip. Maybe one or the other has some experience
I'm telling you in all honesty, if you have a Windows laptop then the pre-installed one from MS is completely sufficient. But if you really want to buy another one, I can recommend avira and avastfreeantivirus or something like that
MS = Microsoft?
If you use Windows 10 Pro, the Microsoft defender will do just fine. Otherwise I can recommend Norton.
Yep
I use Norton and I'm completely satisfied. They offer many additional helpful tools.
Malwarebytes, F-Secure, Eset, and Bitdefender are pretty good there.
Or you use the Brave Browser in combination with the DuckDuckGo extension, uBlock and I don't care about cookies.
In the meantime, you have already preinstalled a virus scanner on Windows laptops, but it only prevents malware on your device and no riskware / malware in the form of nasty websites.
Is the Microsoft defender activated automatically? And what can I "manage" or view.
It is activated automatically in Windows 10 Pro and can be managed via Windows Security.
What exactly is the McAfee
Oh, then I'm perfectly equipped. Use Brave with the cookie extension because those cookie windows are annoying. UBlock because the advertising is annoying and duckduck go because it was set that way.
They also make antivirus software. But I don't know about them.
https://www.mcafee.com/de-de/index.html
, are also quite well-known extensions.
The block lists at uBlock also contain domains that are known for malware / malvertising.
Windows Defender is completely sufficient. Is perfectly integrated in the system, doesn't get on your nerves and works inconspicuously in the background and doesn't slow down the system.
Have been using it for years and have had no problems so far I don't see the need to spend money on any other antivirus.
And if you use the Internet carefully, don't click every nonsense and only download software from trustworthy websites, that's half the battle.
