DaVinci Resolve crashes frequently?

As soon as I open the program, import videos and then watch the first video inserted in the timeline, the program crashes. In the task manager, it is displayed as a background process after the crash, also occupies memory, but does not affect the CPU.

The problem has only occurred since yesterday. I worked with DaVinci Resolve 15, but after several crashes I downloaded the latest version (16). Although my laptop is technically quite weak (2 cores, max 2.8 GHz, no graphics card) but so far everything went smoothly (except for very jerky playing the work within the program).

Which video files do you work with? Especially H.264 files of slightly better cameras up to 60Mbit / s, make problems with weak systems. With Resolve 15 even my 8-Kerner crashed. I think that is mainly due to the limited reading performance of HDDs. Once the files have been transcoded into DNxHD SQ or in an even easier format, everything is going great.

I work with MTS files in 1080p and 50 fps. 25.8 Mbps.

And my hard drive is an SSD.

Ok, on the hard drive so schonmal can't lie. Problem is that MTS stores in H.264 → Interframe compression. This puts the CPU under pressure. So I would try to convert them into DNxHD SQ via "generate optimized media". Maybe that helps. Need some space, but the optimized files can be deleted later.

How much Ram did you actually build?
