I'm looking for a decent laptop and wanted to ask what makes a good laptop for working and or playing video games. Do you have to pay attention to the processor or something completely different? Do you have any idea?
You should currently bring a laptop:
-16 GB RAM
-SSD
-solid processor
- a clever graphic, no soldered onboard scrap
From 800 euro, no upper limit.
A bright display can be important if you want to play and work. Otherwise it is a lot about processing and it is not bad if you can unscrew it and clean the fan if necessary. The performance data are then selected as required. The golden rule for laptops is that you should only have what you need!
Working, streaming, server → good processor. 8-16gb ram
CAD, Blender, Gaming → good, dedicated graphics card. 16-32GB ram.
All of today's mobile dGPU's are BGA chips so soldered.
Ok but when is a processor a good processor?
And when is a graphics card good? So yes what has to be written there so that you know that is good?
The devices are as different as the needs. 13 "is more suitable for on the go 15" better at the desk.
Integrated graphics in the processor good for Office. Dedicated graphics chip good for gaming.
8 GB RAM good for surfing. 16 GB good for image editing.
250 GB SSD good for the budget, 1 TB SSD good for storing videos.
Once you know your budget and intended use, which you determine during a sales pitch, you have the right tailor-made calculator.
It depends on what exactly you need it for?
What do you want to do / play with the laptop?
So officially the one for the training that I will start soon, unofficially I also like to play a few games. These are not an AAA title now and my current one is sufficient for League of Legends, but this is a very old game that runs on almost all devices. I know that something like Overwatch or Destiny 2 does not work with the highest n graphic settings and I don't need it at all. But after the training it would be nice if I could still use the laptop. Because I'm doing a lot of blenders at the moment.
You don't have a PCI slot on the laptop for expansion like on the PC.
So I do a lot of Blender and otherwise I just play League of Legends. That works on my current one, but I would like to see if I can play games. These are then no AAA titles for which you need / want the best quality. But playing the skin needs some performance to look acceptable.
Yes, then 1660 is enough.
I'm really sorry, but I'm really not very experienced in what does 1660 mean? Is that a unit or something else. Anyway, thank you
1660 is an abbreviation for Nvidia GTX 1660, which is a graphics card.
The Turing (that's the name of the architecture) cards start with the GTX 1650 and end with RTX 2080ti. At least the desktop models.
In addition, most laptops have the mobile chips of the variants, these are usually a bit weaker.
Ok thanks is there a big or important difference between the 1650 and the 1660 variant?
Yes, the GTX 1650 is significantly weaker than the GTX 1660.
Ok, I ask because most of them only have 1650 so I thought the difference is small
