MacOS is NOT worse than Windows, in some areas even better. However, a MacBook is not at all worthwhile for a student as it is way too expensive for what you will need it for.
Windows is preferred by a large part of the population because it is much cheaper and can be installed on almost any device.
For online lessons, you will definitely be better with Windows. Most of them will have Windows anyway, and that's where you can find support more easily if something happens. Many programs that may be used only run on the Mac OS under certain conditions or not at all. Not that Mac OS is bad, but in your case I would recommend Windows.
