From 1&1 50K lead on Vodafone 16K lead?

More than a year ago, better said I (because my parents can't do it), I did the contracts and terminations under my father's name.

We had a 16K download and 1K upload line at Telekom and it really crashed every 2 days because we used 2-3 laptops, 3 phones.

Then we switched to 1&1 because my dad anyway only the cheapest looking (he would probably be an 8K line even okay as long as he does not have to pay much). In any case, I persuaded him to get a 50K, got it all done and after a real struggle I made it.

Now my dad came to my room today and said that we quit this year and he wanted to think Vodafone because it is cheap there. Whenever he does not want to do something and it's not really my cup of tea, he comes to me and tells me what's up in the future. He probably wants me to do that again for him.

Aufjedenfall he wanted to have again 16K line what I really can't understand, his statement was "we do not need something" of course I will try again to convince him but money is apparently the highest priority. (and for the people who seriously think that I want to have better Internet to gamble, I must be wrong, I have neither a PC, nor a PS4) We had years of telecom with 16K line and every day until every other day crashed the Wi-Fi and had to start again and again, after such an experience he still wants to have 16K line again, sometimes I wonder where his intelligence has remained.

Do you find his thinking fair? Just for 5 euro a month, he shoots at 50K and prefers 16K, just to save 5 euro? I also just saw that Unitymedia 30K download and 3K upload for the same price as Vodafone offer 16K line. If I can't persuade him at 50K line, then I persuade him for the 30K at Unitymedia, is still better than 16K.

You compare here but also apples with pears… If the WLAN crashes, the router is Sch…, but has nothing to do with the speed of the line. Now if you have 1&1, look if you ever used the 50 Mb or how many times you were above the 16 Mb. Turn on the push service "Fritzbox Info", then comes at the end of the month via e-mail.

The 16 M are scarce, if anyone of you video streaming in HD uses (whether on the laptop, mobile phone or possibly Smart TV). "Only" to surf and mail the 16 M but enough, even with multiple users.

However, 16M is based on legacy technology (ADSL2 +), while 50M uses VDSL. Depending on the state of development and cable quality, this can be a problem, but since the 16 M arrived in advance with you, it will probably work again later. Personally, I would not switch back to ADSL, but here it was pretty damn too… With 6 MBit download.

Cable connection has other problems, because this goes on a shared medium, since the connection is slower, if many use the same time, the 30 MBit are only the maximum allowed set. This can be, depending on the residential area and neighborhood on the same distribution, worse than DSL.

Whether I think that is fair or not, it depends on whether the savings of 5 euro are now based solely on his principles or whether he is really forced to save wherever possible. I do not know how old you are, but maybe it is also a way to offer your father to take the difference (carry out newspapers, etc.).

PS: Either 16000 kBit or 16 MBit, 16 kBit is 25 years ago (and there were 14.4 k);)

PPS: Vodafone is annoying, they manipulate the DNS, I would never go there

Funny way, I actually use video streaming in HD xD

my father is not forced to save, we're not poor but my dad is just as human who just wants to save and always thinks of the money.

I always thought that Vodafone was good, I know 2 have the Vodafone and everything arrives. But the way you say that, let's go to Unitymedia

The 16,000 line is the old Standart der Telekom. If you have been able to continue using it so far, you were lucky. Most of the connections have either been updated or terminated by the Telekom. Therefore, you will not come back to the old port.

Before you (you) change to Unitymedia, inquire about the experience and suffering stories of their customers via the search engine.

I do not know how old you are and what your financial situation looks like, but maybe you can offer your father to pay the additional cost of five euro a month. After all, you are apparently also the main user of the Internet connection. Then your father sees how important the better internet is for you.
