My grandpa has died, so we can't get the password for the laptop. Unfortunately, we have no documents / CDs or anything else. Can someone help me how to reset it?
What kind of operating system would be on the folding computer?

For uncooperative computers, I start with a Mint Live DVD in the optical drive or USB DVD LW. At the first picture, press the button for the boot menu and select DVD - the button (ESC, F12 …) is usually on the boot screen and always in the manual. At linuxmint.com there's the DVD image of Mint for free.
On the Mint Desktop I start the file manager and look at the disk and the data on it. This works just like Windows. If a USB pen is plugged in, then copy important data there.
Once I had a corrupt PC because I had to disconnect the hard drive while booting DVD, but that was the way to success.
In the next step, I install Mint by clicking on the Install icon on the desktop. The modern, virus-proof and excellently equipped Mint (Office, Mediacenter, Mail, mobile phone software…) is much more user-friendly than the spying unfree Windows. Incidentally, a virus scanner is not needed for high-quality operating systems (says BSI). In no case was the paid Win still needed.
