I bought a laptop occasionally about 4 months ago. Now the hard drive is broken and I wanted to reset the laptop before I bring it to the computer specialist. Because the predecessor was still linked to the Microsoft account and I wanted to reset it so that no password prompt comes up if the IT specialists have to log in. Now I reset it and when it stopped at 10% for about 3 hours, I stopped it. Now comes the picture on the start:
I need to enter my Microsoft password? My question now: Can I get around this and do a complete system reset without having to log in? Or do I have to seriously go to the predecessor so that he can enter his password? It is on vacation and now I have vacation quite annoying ๐
Do you have a cell phone? If so, get Drive Droid and boats Windows from there.
Hard disk broken = no resetโฆ Whether with or without previous owner
Hmm, if you reset a lapi, you need the password you entered when you set up the lapi.
And if the previous owner didn't reset the lapi when he gave it to you, I'm afraid that you need his password.
You can reinstall Windows if you switch to USB booting in the UEFI / BIOS and boot with a USB stick that has a Win10 on it. Then everything is reconfigured on the hard disk.
So if the plate is broken, resetting is no use.
Since a Microsoft account was used, the Windows key is most likely linked to the account. That means you need a new key so that you can get away with it as cheaply as possible, get a Windows 7 key in the right version, because these also work for Win10.
Then you ask the specialists to replace the disk and to do a "Windows Clean Install". Then you enter the new key.
