Is it harmful if I charge my laptop during a team video conference?
Yeah, don't do that! Mine always gets really hot and then I get scared myself. If I were you, I honestly wouldn't do it…
If you have an old model I wouldn't use it while loading it. But with a new model it is not a problem if you use it during the charging phase.
At most, it loads more slowly if the system itself also needs performance.
No, it is absolutely not harmful. On the contrary, the laptops are designed for that.
To extend the service life of the battery, basically the same tips apply as for cell phone batteries: keep the charge mostly in the range of 20 … 80%, charge / discharge completely once a month. When the battery is full, do not leave it permanently connected to the mains.
With good care, laptop batteries will last around 3 years. If the capacity falls below 75%, 1 new battery should be used.
The rule for the service life applies btw. Not for every laptop. It depends on the built-in battery which way is the best. My 5 year old Lenovo e.g. Controls charging in maintenance mode to max. 60% and then stops charging, even if I have it plugged in. This means that the battery has a running time of around 100 minutes even after all these years (originally it was 2.5 hours). I.e. Concerning. Better to read the type of charge in the manual for the laptop.
Basically, it's not harmful. However, it depends a lot on your model which one you use. It is best to have a look in the manual for what recommendations there are regarding charging - especially when it comes to extending the life of the battery in the laptop.
