I had to install an update on my notebook 1-3 days ago because I installed it myself when shutting it down. After that I turned off my laptop 2 times at start up, over the long powerbutton off. And when I wanted to log in I waited a few minutes while "preparing Windows" until I realized that there's a lot left and my downloads are in the trash. How can I get everything back it is very important?
"Accidentally" just twice the update made the PC. Its own fault then the data is gone.
If you give the power but 5 sec. "Accidentally" pressed 2x when booting, then you have to blame yourself. Bad luck.
I also wanted to say xD. "Off provided" one does not come so long on the power button. Not quite 2 times.

There's certainly something broken. It's best to do an in place update. That should fix everything.
