Unfortunately, I slipped and fell on the ice on the way to work. My laptop landed on a corner so that it is more or less screwed now. Basically, it still works, but the flickering of the screen makes it impossible to work with it.
Since I'm currently in the home office, I can still use another laptop, which is very old and slow. Is there some way to tie the two together - so use the screen of the old one and the performance of the broken one? A temporary solution is sufficient until I'm on vacation and can have my laptop repaired.
The old laptop runs Windows 7 and has a resolution of 1366x768. The new one runs on Windows 10 and has a resolution of 1920x1080.
You may be able to install the hard drive in the other notebook or buy a monitor on eBay classifieds. Some of them are available for a 10.
Notebooks almost exclusively have screen outputs.
No that doesn't work
A notebook has its own screen and can't use that of another notebook
You can connect an external monitor to the broken one
Connecting laptops to each other to use the screen does not work. But you can connect an external monitor.
Ne I have a guarantee on the device and the repair is no problem
Network cables and remote desktop software would be a solution. I don't know whether there's a possibility under Windows as with Linux or Unix to export the screen directly over the network, I don't suspect.
I've already thought about Remote Desktop, the question is whether that works because there are two different operating systems and two different screen types
Guarantee? Since then, the fall damage has been paying, or do you mean insurance
Ok, it's a shame, I don't have a screen - does a TV monitor work too?
Then hit a monitor.
It doesn't matter as long as the remote desktop software used is compatible with both systems.
Yes in that case insurance - I bought it at that time @ Lexl81
If your TV has the right plug it works
@ Lexl81 Jo has both NEN HDMI port - I'll try it out - Thanks for the help
Safe is also possible
Theoretically, you can connect the laptop to a TV with HDMI, but the problem is Windows because you can or must set whether the screen should be mirrored 1: 1 etc. You have to see whether Windows can do this the first time, otherwise it should work
It does not matter. The defective computer must have installed a Windows Pro Edition, it doesn't work with Home. Alternatively, you can do it with TeamViewer if you only use it for private purposes
You may have to activate it.
You do that with the wintaste + P
