Today wanted to play Sims 3 again after a long time. I installed Sims 3 with all my extensions on Origin. Everything worked out great, but when I clicked on play, Origin closed for a moment and was back after 2 seconds. Otherwise nothing has happened, Sims has not opened. I have a new laptop that doesn't have a CD drive, which is why I can't try CD: / I've already restarted my laptop, reinstalled Origin and installed Sims 3 … I have no idea what else I can try.
hope one of you can help me.
In Origin you could try to go to the settings under the play button and there you select game properties, here you can deactivate the "Activate Origin in game" flag and see if it works, you can also try Origin offline To move mode and see if that brings improvement, at last you could try to start Sims manually by running the executable file under Windows that would be the file with the extension ".exe" if you do not know where you installed Sims you can either via the settings under Sims in Origin select "move game" then you should be in the current path, you can then copy it and cancel the process then open the copied path in Explorer under Windows or Finder under Mac under Windows there's also the Possibility to use the search field in the task bar and enter Sims there should then be under the app "Open file location" so g If you get either directly to the correct path or to a folder for menu shortcuts, if the latter is the case you have to right-click on Sims and select Open file path in the context menu.
First of all, many thanks for the effort. I've tried all the options, but it still doesn't start…: / As I said, the Sims Launcher doesn't even open and there's no error message or anything like that. I also have Sims 4, this starts and plays normally.
Could you say what kind of system you have, the operating system, processor (CPU), graphics card (GPU) and size of working memory (RAM) in GB or MB would be of interest here, since Sims 4 works, should it not be due to the minimum requirements, also interesting would be on what kind of system it ran before and whether you had the same operating system on it or an older Windows 7, XP or Vista
@ strixx42 before I mention all the data, my friend logged into my Origin account on his pc and downloaded Sims 3. He also had the problem. My laptop is a Razer Blade 15 Gaming Laptop 2020: 15.6 inch Full HD 144Hz base model, Intel Core i7 10th Gen, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. I hope the data may help.
I used to play Sims 3 without any problems on my old laptop, I had Windows 8.1 on it and I always installed the Sims 3 games (also have many extensions) via CD and never via Origin. Then when I wanted to play I always had to pack the latest expansion pack.
I also asked in another forum and was told I should install the 64-bit version of Sims 3. Yesterday I was also shown something, but it said it was for Mac and I therefore thought that it was irrelevant for me: / and now I don't know how to install the 64-bit version if it gives me, for whatever reason is no longer displayed.
First of all, thank you for your detailed description, I've tried it out on a similar laptop, but Sims 3 starts fine with me. The 64Bit version is only designed for Mac, which I got displayed but nobody will be able to install it on Windows, the original Sims 3 was simply developed in 32bit for Windows 7, but it works with a 64Bit architecture like your Intel i7 has also, it just wouldn't work the other way around. The hardware is by no means the problem here, so I would now try to use the TS3.exe with right click, Properties, Compatibility, the automatic "run troubleshooting" function or manually change the compatibility in Windows 7/8 and possibly also select it as Administrator then take over and try again, the same maybe also for the Sims3Launcher.exe if it still does not work and also a restart if it does not work after the changes to the properties could help everything has remained unsuccessful I think you only have that Option to contact EA Support so that they can replace the old Sims 3 from your library with another Sims 3 that will hopefully work.
Maybe one more thing, I assume that you have installed Origin and Sims as an administrator, if you only have one user you are that automatically, there are several by default the first user created is the administrator if you have not changed it manually.
I also thought to myself that the 64 bit version is only for Mac, which is why I was surprised that this was suggested to me. What I have to say about this, Origin always wants to save Sims 3 somewhere completely different from what I usually know (Programs (x86) -Origin Games). There's also Sims 4 saved under it, but Sims 4 is also saved under Documents-Electronic Arts, maybe that's important to know. I changed the location for Sims 3 so that Sims 3 is saved under Documents-Electronic Arts. Because where it was previously stored under the other, there was no bin folder.
I tried the two options and it still doesn't work. I will then contact EA customer service directly today and hope they can help me. I only phoned them on Saturday because I couldn't redeem my Sims 3 code (the code was already replaced it said) and it turned out that I had registered Sims 3 on another Origin account of mine years ago. They then transferred the Sims 3 and an EP to my main account and deactivated my old account. Maybe something went wrong during the transfer?: /
Oh, yes my friend still has a user on the laptop who was created first and is therefore the administrator. But my friend told me I'm an administrator.
So I can't say whether it is in the storage location but I would definitely try it because I installed it on a different hard drive, but I left the folder Programs x86 / Origin Games, x86 means 32bit emulation and I could imagine that if you save it somewhere else, it won't be able to emulate it because the PC may then try to run it as a 64-bit application which would not work, the architecture is now too complex to go into it more precisely, but I would install or move it to the original folder and try again
With Sims 4 that wouldn't matter because it is 64Bit, but to my knowledge it needs 32bit emulation, the identifier x86, also for Sims 4, that should be installed in the same folder, the files where you can see personal settings, screenshots, game states and under Documents I also think mods if you have some, but the game is not installed there, so you see there 2 folders with Sims 3 you should have 2 at the end if you install it in the normal directory and it works
So I've now moved Sims 3 to the Origin default location. In the Origin Gams folder there are now Sims 4 and Sims 3, but under Documents-Electronic Arts only Sims 4 is now and no longer the Sims 3 …
It should create itself when the game starts successfully
Yes, since there's no successful start, none will be created. I've already watched a lot of videos about it, but nobody else had my problem or a very similar one, I'll say: / I'm really wondering if Sims 3 was damaged during the account merger.
Too bad, I was hoping that would have been it did you restart after moving? I don't hope for a different result, but you never know, but that's all strange if it happens to not work with your friend on another device, then it is really more likely that something was simply damaged. Unfortunately, you will then have to deal with the support.
So now I restarted the laptop and as expected it still doesn't work. It's very strange that it doesn't work with my friend either and he has a PC, no laptop with a completely different processor, etc.
I'll call customer service today and hopefully this will be resolved. Nevertheless, many, many thanks for the effort! I will report what it really was then. I'm assuming that my Sims 3 game was busy with the account merging.
All right, I'm curious to see what will come of it, hopefully it will turn out relatively quickly and you can play Sims 3 again.
Short update: After about 3 hours of conversation with EA, Sims 3 still doesn't work… You've tried other things but still doesn't work. I'm supposed to call again tomorrow because no specialist was available today, let's see if it works then… Read on the Internet that some Sims 3 can't play since they have Windows 10, but with others it works… Totally strange. On my old laptop, it works through Origin. (I have Windows 8.1 on the) But my laptop is very slow and Sims used to hang around a bit on it. But if all else fails, I'll have to deal with it.
Well, you could have saved yourself the 3 hours, I probably advise you to reinstall Origin and Sims 3 with an administrator account, if your friend has logged in first, you will have to carry out the steps described in the following link via his account to make your account an administrator account, since a non-administrator can't of course declare himself an administrator. Consider the point changing a local user account to an administrator account Link: https://support.microsoft.com/...915af2a34d
My friend made me an administrator so I did the reinstallation of Origin like Sims 3 as an administrator then. Maybe the specialists can help me more tomorrow, let's see
