Erase data from the micro SD card?

I have a wildlife camera with a micro SD card. When I take the card out of the camera and want to look at the pictures on the laptop, I see the first pictures the camera has ever taken. I then delete it and eject the card. When I put the card back in, I see the pictures again, which I just deleted. How do I get rid of the pictures and can I save new pictures?

I only know this problem if you use a MicroSD adapter to SD and the small slide switch on the adapter is set to Lock (erasure protection).
