Tablet or laptop?

I'm currently in grade 12 and work a lot with the tablet. I currently have a Microsoft Surface 2 and version windows 8.1. I'm not at all satisfied with Windows and it keeps crashing. What would you recommend?

Cl

Install Windows 10.

Lo

Reinstall it or buy an iPad

Ea

Slide rule, marble board, best screw it on then it can no longer crash.

Br

Reinstall Windows

Lo

Windows 10 will not run on it

St

Yes, the problem with the surface I can't install windows 10

Cl

Then it's not the operating system but the hardware, logically right?

St

Unfortunately, I can no longer install Windows 10 on the surface

Lo

The thing is ancient, so I'm not surprised why it is not working

Lo

Then reset it or buy a decent tablet

Br

OK then it's best to get a newer surface. The newest are better because they already have Windows 10 on it.

I have a solution for the Surface that doesn't cost any money: just install a Linux distribution on it. For example Linux Mint Xfce. This only requires a third of the system resources that Windows would otherwise need.

Here is the download: http://mirrors.evowise.com/linuxmint/stable/20/linuxmint-20-xfce-64bit.iso

Then write the ISO with Rufus https://rufus.ie/ on an empty formatted USB stick and then boot this stick and follow the instructions of the wizard. Simply select "Erase hard drive and install Linux Mint" as the installation type. Then Windows will be deleted and Linux Mint will be installed. I recommend doing a full installation. The hardware is set up automatically.

A restart takes place after the installation is complete. When the desktop appears, the update manager reports in the lower right corner of the task bar next to the clock. These updates should be installed. This can also be automated so that it runs in the background.

You don't have to do without Spotify, Skype, Teamspeak3 and Discord under Linux.

This is what the desktop looks like:

As you can see, the start menu is divided into categories. That makes the whole thing clear. Then you don't have to leaf through for long.

Linux Mint Xfce goes off like a rocket and hardly scratches the system resources. In comparison, Windows is a lame duck.

So you can still use it meaningfully.
