Old HDD with quirk, can I still use it?

Net, I found an old laptop HDD, which has a flaw in the PCB.

I would like to try this out and therefore wanted to ask beforehand whether anyone has ever tried a hard drive with similar damage.

Just test it, it doesn't have to be that it is broken

So on the edge… It could be that there are no contacts and then everything would be fine.

Should not be a problem. The quirk can of course have been caused by a severe impact, which also damaged something internally. Plug it in and take a look.

Don't have a PC? Because if it did… Then, in your place, at the time you asked the question here, I would have tested the hard drive long ago.

The small notch on the board is completely irrelevant.

The HDD should still work. Looks like a spot with no contacts that could be damaged.

Just test it, what have you got to lose?

There's, of course, something to the statement about the hard blow that the record probably received.

As someone who is not familiar with the electronics behind the whole thing, I prefer to ask beforehand to be on the safe side, I don't want to break anything on my PC.

Thank you for the answer, the HDD still works and does not cause any problems so far!

Excellent!
