I'm reinstalling a buddy Windwos 10 on his laptop today.
My question:
The buddy is already using Windows 10 on his laptop, but this causes quite some problems when starting and error messages.
How do I proceed if I now play a new operating system but still have the old one on it?
Do I first have to format the hard disk via BIOS, or will the old Windows 10 with errors be overwritten during a new installation?
You can format the hard drive during installation. It is an option. But you don't have to do that, you know that? Windows 10 has cool repair features. Sempervideo on YouTube has a cool list for that.
You can reset the computer yourself in Windows. All data is deleted and Windows is reinstalled by itself. But it takes a few hours.
If you want to reinstall Windows Manuel, simply insert the boot stick or CD, then boot up or restart the PC and it should recognize the boot medium itself. In the installation menu you have to format the hard drives anyway.
