I can recommend Peppermint OS. This is based on the long-term support version of Ubuntu and offers a modern desktop with start menu. I can recommend Linux Mint, I find it very pleasant to use. You can argue about the design, but it fully meets my needs and is fast.

Not every Pupplet is based on Ubuntu
There are more than enough window managers, desktops, themes, wallpapers ect. To customize everything as you please.
Since we do not know what is "beautiful" for you, any answer would just be a different opinion and will not help you.
