When good time to order computer?

So Hal, I have the feeling that murphy's Law has not prevailed in the last 2 years. If I spent 500 euro on a laptop today, that would definitely not be twice as good as it was then. That used to be faster somehow. Can there be something to it? What would be a good window for a new purchase? When will the new chipsets come and everything?

not that big thing to the point but I look at gearbest and 2 years ago I have already bought there!

Th

Due to the fact that the production is getting smaller and smaller this is of course also a lot of effort in the production and development. In addition, one slowly comes to the limits, at some point it just will not be smaller.

Therefore, the leaps in performance are just not as big as some time ago, just as Intel is currently not really getting on and still using their old architecture.

A good time is always when you need something new. It almost never makes sense to wait unless the prices are extremely high or a big release is due. Therefore, simply strike, the prices are currently also fair.

This is not Murphy's Law, but

Ha

Find how rude. In the past, the best laptops cost 600 euro, now 1500 is nothing special anymore

Ha

Oh, there you could not hold back what

Th

Well, that depends. At that time, there were just a few premium models, nowadays, the price is getting higher. But that does not necessarily mean that a laptop for 400 euro is worse these days than it was then.

My 8 year old Samsung notebook for that time 479 euro had an i5 2410M + 4GB ram, nowadays you get around for the 400 euro a notebook with i5 8250U and 8 GB of RAM. So in my opinion that's fine.

If you want to specify the design of course, you have to dig deeper into the bag.

Ha

But the new one is not 2 high 8 times better, not even 2 high 3 times…

Th

But, exactly twice as fast, and that in about 7 years. Does not meet the More's Law but more power is not needed. My notebook still easily accomplishes its purpose without running out of breath.

Ha

You are just an undemanding person

Th

It's acceptable. You do not use a laptop for demanding tasks. But I have my PC, which is responsible for gaming, image editing and CAD.

Since in recent years, the requirements for the programs have not really increased so synonymous not so much stronger hardware ago.

Ha

You are sedentary

Th

Just told you my opinion, but everyone can have their own. You just do not base your opinion, at least I do not read arguments.

My first PC was from 2003, and there were the devices even more expensive!

Ha

I'm not sedentary. I'm sorry to have swept that under the table.

Th

Then of course that's a different matter. However, there are also laptops with desktop hardware. You can configure it to your liking.

Pr

Murphy's law does not say that anything gets twice as fast.

"Anything that can go wrong will go wrong." is murphy's law.

And moores law does not say that either. More's law says only that doubles the transistor number, not that your hardware is twice as fast for the same price.

Un

I would buy technology between January and March, because that's where new things come in, and older versions / models will fall in price.

Ha

Maybe I'm just smart too

Ha

E wait wat who are you?

Pr

A bored computer science student. Lol.

Pa

For example, now is a good time to buy PC hardware.

AMD has launched both new GPUs and CPUs that are top.

In addition still low prices with SSDs and RAM.

There was rarely a better time to buy a PC.

Sk

Confusing things is not an indicator of intelligence.

I only say it.

Ha

You are exmatriculated

Ha

Hmm

Ha

Oh dear, what's up with you?

Pr

OK.

Pa

Not just "Hmm". The new 7nm processors from AMD are top. The new 7nm Grakas too. SSD and RAM prices are extremely low. There's actually little better time than now.

Ha

What should one buy for nen taui?

Pa

For example: https://hardwarerat.de/...rerat-1000 There's so much to say about hardware advice that the guy makes the best prices in terms of assembled PCs. Especially since the constellations are all top. I can only recommend and is recommended by many who are familiar with PC hardware.

Ha

Ok I have the geshoppt do you think that's okay? https://www.microspot.ch/de/computer-gaming/notebooks/notebooks--c511000/acer-aspire-7-15-6-core-i7-8750h-16-gb-ram-256-gb-ssd--p0001502810?

Pa

Wat? Now why a notebook? Thought you need a PC?

Ha

1) a notebook is a PC. 2) why did you think so? 3) no

Pa

What do you want to do with the notebook? Work or gamble? That would be important to know for a good recommendation. Only to work / study a Macbook would be something fine.

Ha

Yes, to work it is mainly. Am also extremely demanding in terms of performance, I hate to wait for programs and change too much back and forth

Pa

Joah. Then your notebook, which you have chosen, is already something good for the price. Alternatively, the Macbook would be here: https://geizhals.de/...at&hloc=de But has worse Specs.

Ha

Yes 8 GB RAM is enough, I think only for total farmers
