When I wanted to write a longer text today, I noticed when zooming in Word that my Left Ctrl key no longer works. The rights, however, works perfectly.
The key is indispensable for me, because I write quite a lot on the PC and the combinations CTRL + C + X + V relatively often need.

Keyboard usually needs to be completely replaced when you need it. Can for the most models get keyboards on the internet (not all E17's have the same, E17 actually only describes the size).
