I have an Aspire 7 A715-72G:
- 8GB Ram
- intel i7-8750H
- Geforce GTX 1050Ti
- 512 GB SSD
My goal was to buy a laptop for university (long battery life) and to paddle privately. But it shouldn't look like a gamer laptop because I find it rather embarrassing (mostly at least, no offense). With the components, I assumed that most games could be played with high graphics settings without any problems and, for example, in programs like Word would have a nice battery life of 6 hours, as predicted in the test:

The reality is somewhat different. I play CSGO for example 4: 3 on the lowest graphics settings, I also have about 200 FPS (constant), but still stutters that are not mini stutters but last about 1 second. Unfortunately, I'm not very computer-savvy and therefore can't imagine why. The power cable is of course plugged in when playing.
Furthermore, I can't play games like The Witcher 3, Apex, Battlefield 1, Fifa 18/19/20 smoothly (spongy) - even at the lowest settings. I also have the latest graphics driver and just for information, GeforceExperience would play games like Fifa or the Witcher on "recommended settings" on "high graphics setting". I also have 300 GB free on the SSD, so I don't think that's going to be the problem.
To make matters worse, the battery life is not as long as expected and is sufficient for a maximum of 4 hours if I only use Word and the brightness is medium.
I may just be expecting too much, but CSGO then gave me the rest that not even that is playable on this laptop. I hope that somehow there are other reasons and I would appreciate feedback!
Well… It's just an all-rounder thing
Battery: make sure that the Intel GPU and not from nVidia are running.
Jerky things: update all drivers
Spongy things: I have no idea what you mean by spongy
Overall, I guess that Windows was preinstalled and that it was used that way. I would simply install Windows from scratch.
Thanks in advance for the answer.
How can I determine which GPU is running?
Drivers are up to date.
To describe the spongy, I mean that when I e.g. Battlefield 1 games, the controls are not direct. When I move the mouse, the game responds with a delay, so to speak. After deleting a few games to free up the SSD's memory, it was a little bit better, but still not playable. It's not the mouse, it works flawlessly in other games.
Ok, since I'm a layman: how do I completely reinstall Windows and what should I watch out for? Probably a backup, and I need a CD or how to do it. Maybe you know more. I have windows 10.
