A buddy and I want to equip his laptop with an external graphics card so that it runs better. For this we take the EXP GDC Beast Dock which is connected via PCIe x1. The laptop is the Asus x540la. There the DVD drive is also connected with PCIe x1. I wanted to ask if you could connect the graphics dock to it. My buddy doesn't want to do without the WLAN card.
You might have to check that the drive has a proprietary connector. Unfortunately, the part is designed for the M.2 version.
There are different versions of it
What a senseless endeavor, based on the fact that it is an i3 DualCore 4xxx / 5xxx.
But no matter, everyone has to know for themselves… As an alternative to the WLAN card, you should then use a WLAN USB stick (although WLAN is not the yellow of the egg for playing either).
Are you sure that the DVD drive with PCI-E is connected in the laptop?
I would find it quite unusual, since Slimline SATA is actually used for this.
