2 monitors with HDMI switch operate

I have a laptop, a Philips TV and a Asus monitor.

The laptop has an HDMI port, I have now bought a switch, an input, from the laptop and two outputs. One output is connected to the TV and the other output to the monitor. Everything works so far.

My problem now is that I can only duplicate the ads. I would like to have the TV as the main display and the monitor as an extension. The monitor of the laptop is meanwhile out.

When I go to Recognize in the display settings, he tells me that no further display is detected. If I go to Identify then both ads will be identified as number 2. Although I would like that the television is the 1 and the monitor the 2.

Can somebody help me with it?

Trying everything has not helped.

Yes, a switch can only duplicate.

Expanding is only possible if the laptop has two outputs

That's because that's the way an HDMI switch works. It forwards the same signal to several screens, of course, therefore, the same picture can be seen on these screens.

You would need to expand the screens to separate monitor ports on the laptop.

Okay, that's obvious. I was hoping I could make one laptop output 2 to use the laptop monitor as 1, the TV as 2 and the monitor as 3. So to speak quasi make an output two.

Is something basically possible, so I've just bought the wrong device or something is simply not?

Ey

How do you imagine it, how one signal, two different signals?

A switch can only duplicate the one signal…

That just will not work… Almost. Matrox had once made graphics cards that had a propeitären connection which could be adapted to 2 monitors, or to two independent terminals. But you can't even install something in your laptop.

That's clear, but thanks for your help. Afterwards one is always smarter.
