Why does Ubuntu not shut down after installation?

I try to install Ubuntu (next to Windows) on my laptop.

For this I have partitioned my 2nd hard drive, so Ubuntu after 200 GB has. Then I set up a USB stick with "Linux Live Creator". If I boot from the USB, I can either start Ubuntu without installing it (VirtualMachine) or start the installation directly. If I start Ubuntu this is not a problem. Only if I want to drive down the laptop nothing happens. Even after the installation, when prompted to restart the PC, nothing happens.

Does anyone have an idea what the issue could be?

I have an Asus FX504.

Virtual Machine? I do not think so, because as a virtual machine Windows has to run and then Linux is like a Windows application.
You definitely think as Ubuntu "live system" works.

How far does the installation go? Can you work with the system (start any program)? Call a terminal, there e.g. Enter ls…

I do not know how it is with Ubuntu. Could be that the stick needs to be removed.

Just shut down in a terminal

sudo shutdown now

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I can't open the terminal at all, because after the installation the request comes to restart the PC. If you then click on the button, the laptop hangs.

I'll try that with the stick.
