Can't set up my Asus Notebook Model FX504G without Internet?

I reported to the Windows Forum weeks ago and did not receive a correct answer.

The problem: I had my notebook set up again by Windows in the options, I chose to delete everything etc. When I put it on, it now asks me for the desired language and lets me choose the keyboard layout. The next step is to connect to the internet. I tested it with the Wi-Fi, the network cable and my iPhone hotspot. It always shows that I have internet and a connection, but unfortunately when I click on continue, no connection to Microsoft is established. I can connect my other countless devices with my own Wi-Fi, network cable and hotspot. So I can't put my laptop on without internet and it doesn't work with me. Does somebody has any idea? Urgently need help.

What I've already done: tested different networks and cables, different hotspots of smartphones. Even booting from a USB stick does not work, I can then delete and format all hard drives. After the installation, however, the same selection criteria come up. There's no option to find where I can continue without the internet.

Ri

At the bottom left you can click on the small text "skip step".

Ma

If you deactivate all adapters in the network, that's fine

Try it

search "network connections"

then deactivate wherever active "

then they only have the globe in their pocket

Ja

When asked about internet access, you first have to answer that you have no internet! You then have to do the set-up without updates and with a local user.
If it is too late and the program asks you to use a microsoft account, then you have windows HOME; To avoid this constraint, you must block the Internet access, either via the network connections or directly pull out the cable (for LAN). Then you can do it without the internet. With windows PRO, this also works with a local user account.
It's best to start again from the beginning.

I added my question. A screenshot that shows that this is not possible.

I added my question. A screenshot that shows that this is not possible.

Ar

See the new screenshot in the original question. How can I deactivate the connections of my neighbors and the environment?

Ja

My answer remains valid. So the whole thing again from the beginning without reference to Internet access.

Ja

The other WLAN SSID are always displayed. Since they are all secure (password), you will not be able to enter them. But your All-99096 isn't supposed to be either, but it's because you betrayed that you had internet access.

Ar

Exactly, I understand that they are always displayed. But I can't deactivate all network connections? And what is an ALL-99096? Yes, I have internet access, but who I'm connecting to and click on next in the window (as on the screenshot). It either loads indefinitely or there's an error that a connection to Microsoft is not possible.

Ma

You have already given yourself away. They wouldn't be visible if they didn't have a network. So you have one

Ar

Unfortunately, this is of no use, there's no Windows installed on my device. I can't get away from this screen like the screenshot. Not with or without the Internet. If I connect and click on continue it loads into the infinite or an error message comes after a few minutes.

Ja

He has an active WLAN adapter, but no valid SSID to display, otherwise there's nothing to say. He should (but should not yet) set up his WLAN access via the router. Only then does he have a WLAN in the sense of the Windows definition.

Ja

The Wi-Fi access with SSID ALL-99096 has a check mark - I thought that was yours. Well, if you deactivate the WLAN adapter, then nothing will be displayed on available WLANs. My previous information remains unchanged. The whole thing again from the beginning.

Ar

There's nowhere a question about whether I have internet or not. As you can see from the screenshot I also have to have a connection. I did the whole thing again, chose the language etc. Now again with this step, which I can't get away from, there's no key combination and no option in which I can deactivate or choose something as described.

Ma

Yes, which one?

Then he loads you too long and what do you do then?

Ja

You don't understand anything. The question of Internet access is asked at the very beginning of a new installation. You start with the Media Creation Tool (windows 10) https://www.microsoft.com/.../windows10
and then choose a new installation and not the update or upgrade. In the further course, do not state that you have internet access. Then later select a local account and not a Microsoft account.

Ar

The error message is that there's no connection to Microsoft or can't be established. If the infinite charging occurs (already read for 2 hours), I simply restart the device.

Ar

This question about internet access is never asked. I reinstalled the whole media creation tool program and installed the files for a new PC on my stick. The version in which you download the ISO file yourself and make the stick bootable with RUFUS does not work.

When installing ISO or the Cration tool, the Internet is never asked. When I start the new installation via USB stick, so boot from the USB stick, the hard drives come back to format, then installation, then language selection, keyboard layout and then the problem on my screenshot.

Ja

Switch off the Internet before installing from the USB stick / leave the Asus computer without Internet access. Then install on an empty partition. Which version of windows do you actually want to install?

Ja

Asus probably also set up a RECOVERY partition on the SSD (or HDD) with the operating system and windows still has an EFI system partition (~ 100 MB). You have to completely (!) Delete the SSD, i.e. All partitions. You can do that with PARTED MAGIC. The Media Creation Tool asks you whether you want to install windows on 'this' PC or on another. You choose the other. If you later do the fresh installation of your windows 10 on the empty SSD, then you switch off the Internet access for this notebook. When asked whether you want to update during the installation, answer NO or SKIP. I don't know the exact text now, but that's self-explanatory. Respond to every question about Internet access as we had previously clarified, ie: "I have no Internet". This also ensures at windows HOME that a local account can be set up and that the obligation to use a microsoft account is avoided.

By the way: the screenshot shows a tiny piece of "NETWORK" behind it. That means that you went a step too far, because you only initiated a network for configuration if windows asked for it beforehand and you confirmed it. Or Asus has already provided and specified something that is not on the system partition (which you have formatted) and which somehow plays a role in the installation routine. My imagination fails here. In any case, I understood you that your WLAN SSID is not included; the alb-99096 is not yours (?!). In any case, the WLAN adapter is activated at this moment. Otherwise the neighboring WLAN networks would not be displayed. Therefore, in any case, the entire SSD must be cleaned. The WLAN adapter is installed in the notebook, but must not be effective / must not recognize WLAN. Therefore it is best to keep your router switched off until the end of the windows installation. If something like this happens again (=> screenshot), then you have to call Asus and ask with your notebook serial number what they got there. Telephone DE +49 (0) 2102 5789 557. But that really can't happen! / Router switched off).

Ar

Thank you and everyone else who helped me! The problem was the BIOS, I only did an update like a USB stick (from the BIOS). Now the device can connect to Windows.

Ri

According to his description, this was not a BIOS update, but a normal win installation using an external boot medium.

Ma

So with win7 you don't have son theater, that's for sure. And you could still update.

Ja

Probably true!

Ja

I think we also learned something:-)

Ja

Oh yes, I'm actually surprised that you have not been able to achieve an installation without having to contact microsoft by switching off the Internet access. But this question probably remains unanswered forever. Ciao Oli!
