I use a laptop that I use after effects on. Editing is okay, but the performance is often insufficient for rendering. My friend has a pretty good pc and wants to help me too. Is there a program that I can use to combine its performance with my laptop? There are programs where you can donate your work to cancer research and so on, but is that also possible among private individuals?
I don't think so because you need a sever or so no plan
You can cluster tasks, but that is a relatively complex process. To do this, the video is chopped up and then uploaded to the internet. Anyone who would like to help decode, render or whatever in that direction will receive individual clusters, edit them and upload them again.
The whole thing is only worthwhile if the bandwidth of the access is very large, otherwise the up and down load times would far exceed the rendering time.
