I want to buy a new notebook for my studies. However, I'm overwhelmed by how much RAM and hard disk space I'm using.
I mainly use the notebook for my lectures, research and to write homework.
My tip: RAM definitely 8GB, you don't need to start below that
Memory: ~ 250GB is enough, but I would tend to ~ 500GB, otherwise you will be annoyed if the memory is full too quickly
Another question is what you do with the notebook
A modest notebook is actually sufficient for housework, etc.
In order not to reach the limits in the foreseeable future, 8 GB RAM and 500 GB hard disk would be sensible.
If you want to play another game on it, you double the two values.
If it is a Windows notebook, it should be at least 4 GB RAM and a 250-500 GB hard drive. So that you can work with it. Of course, more does not hurt. Especially with RAM
For such applications I would suggest 8GB of RAM at least. Software becomes more and more demanding and complex over time, so that 4GB is anything but sensible, let alone future-proof.
Hard drive capacity depends on what you can get. But would also say that 500GB would be useful. 250 GB could quickly become too little.
You could also look for an SSD and HDD combination where a 250 GB SSD would be the minimum and a 500GB or 1TB hard drive.
For everyday, normal use I would no longer buy a device with less than 8GB RAM, personally even more 16GB - also to be future-proof.
You probably don't need a lot of storage, but it should definitely be an SSD. Have to clean up and delete things more often with less memory than with more memory
Personally, I would go for 16GB RAM & 512GB SSD
