Laptop Windows from HDD to SSD?

I would like to install a SSD on my laptop and install Windows 10 on the SSD. The laptop is outfitted so I can easily install the SSD in a dedicated slot.

How do I go now, if I want to reinstall Windows on the SSD and wants to use the HDD as a data collector.

My plan was as follows:

Create windows recovery on USB stick
reboot the system / install on the SSD

Are all disks formatted during a reinstallation, including the HDD with the current Windows partition? And then booting from the new SSD or do I have to change something in the BIOS afterwards? What about the activation key, is it included in the recovery?

I thank you in advance for your answers.

You can choose if you want to format the plates.

In the BIOS, you have to look for the boot order. The SSD should be in front of the HDD.

That with the key is always such a thing. Log in to the PC with your Microsoft account and check online if your PC was recognized there.

Then the eig should work, but was not the case with me. I needed the old Win 7 Key to activate Win 10.

So when booting from the recovery I can choose in the installation program on which plate I want to have the partition and which hard drives should be formatted?

Yes
