Have computers suddenly become extremely slow?

I started up my laptop this morning and wanted to watch a live stream. Everything went as usual.

Suddenly the stream loaded, as if I had no internet. Then I opened the Task Manager, PC ran a little slower than usual. Task Manager says: Disk utilization 100%.

Then I did an SFC scan. This could not find any damage to the hard drive. I continued to work with the somewhat slower PC. Been on Discord with friends, and when I went to YouTube afterwards, everything went very slowly.

Then I restarted the PC 2-3 times and worked until it slowed down again. Then I was able to close all the programs. Then I turned it off without shutting it down.

Since then it is extremely slow. And it is getting slower. But I also have the feeling that it could be due to Google Chrome.

Ya

When my PC slows down, I always do a virus check first, and then check all the start programs.

Suddenly the stream loaded, as if I had no internet.

So not at all?

Then I did an SFC scan. This could not find any damage to the hard drive.

An sfc scan does not check the hard disk either, but the integrity of the system files. Test the hard drive with chkdsk.

Then I turned it off without shutting it down

How is that possible? Did you pull the plug?!

Use the Resource Monitor (either start via the Task Manager or call "resmon.exe" as Admin) to find out which program is using so much on the hard disk. Maybe it's an encryption Trojan, or the Windows Update Client. Maybe the disk is defective (download chkdsk or CrystalDiskInfo from Heise).

Try the following:

Run Windows 10 Disk Cleanup. I recommend thorough cleaning.
Create a Kaspersky Rescue USB Bootstick. This will get rid of viruses, Trojans, adware, malware and other malware. First download the Kaspersky Rescue Disk ISO: https://support.kaspersky.com/de/viruses/krd2018 Then write this ISO with Rufus https://rufus.ie/ on an empty formatted USB stick. When done simply boot this stick and follow the instructions of the assistant. When everything is complete, simply restart the PC and remove the stick. The Kaspersky Rescue USB Bootstick has already eliminated extremely stubborn malware where even paid anti-virus programs have failed.
The last step is to start the command prompt as administrator in Windows 10. Then enter the following command: sfc / scannow This repairs the Windows system files.

Hmm… The error description is rather unruly.
You don't "load" a stream. A stream is something that is broadcast and then immediately discarded. (E.g. Video / audio).

An SFC scan can't detect any damage to the hard disk, the program is not there for that.

Which antivirus software is active for you? (Please product and not only manufacturer!)

A stream is a data-buffered video.
If the buffer has been read and has not continued, it stops playing.
It would be new to me that something is rejected.

A stream doesn't have to be video.
Instead of "discard" take "delete" or "remove from RAM". Nothing is saved.
