I would like to have a laptop or similar for my son. Buy on the way, as it runs 1h daily by bus. (14 years old) However, I'm scared that something will happen to him because someone might steal it. Do you have ideas how to implement this? Maybe I thought of a tablet or removable laptops (tablet), would that be so?
Thanks in advance and please only give answers to the question:-)
In the 8 years I've been on the bus twice a day, nothing has ever been stolen from me and I have never witnessed a theft or the like. We're lucky that we live in a very safe country.
So in my opinion, you can definitely consider that. However, I find a laptop a bit over the top. A slightly smaller tablet or a tablet PC in my opinion, too.
However, I have to say that I come from a smaller town (~ 50,000 inhabitants) and it could be a little different in big cities. But as long as you make it clear to your son how to pay attention to his valuables, that should not be a problem.
A small notebook (on the tablet I think I can bad code)
But if he drove to / from school, I would worry about the risk of theft in school (more than in the bus)
The school is already safe:-)
As some mentioned above, I find a laptop a bit impractical in a bus because you either have almost no space for a laptop, let alone often not to sit. For the time you can be in need of a book, a cell phone or if then take a tablet but as long as you have to do any urgent business on the go, a laptop is a bit unnecessary, even if you can do more often with it. Although I read in the middle of that he likes to program, but you should do that in peace and you often have rest at home, in a library or possibly in a cafeteria.
When it comes to stealing, you can steal just about anything, from cell phones to laptops, you can never be sure enough, but I would not necessarily hang on to it, because that does not necessarily happen to everyone Day, at least not always on site. But of course you must not neglect something, so caution is always advised.
