A friend of mine is looking for a school laptop for her son because of a problem with writing.
So I'm looking for a laptop with which I can work with Word, Excel and PowerPoint without any problems, and that will continue for the next few years.
It should have a reasonably good battery life, so it should be able to withstand 2-3 hours without a mains connection.
It would be great if you could play graphically non-demanding games with it, but that's definitely not a must.
The question now is, convertible or laptop? Which one
Convertibles are usually more expensive than ordinary laptops. They are only recommended if a tablet experience is desired.
The only question is: In which price range are you looking for a device?
If no special device is sought, I can recommend https://geizhals.de/...at&hloc=de device. Price-performance ratio is top here, as is the equipment.
Would advise against convertibles and use a normal laptop. The critical question as always: what is the budget? I say from 500 euro you get the good basic models.
What exactly would be good basic models for you?
500-650 euro would already be in it, how good would that be and how long does it last?
How good would they be? Can do everything you have described easily.
How long do they last? Depending on how you handle the laptop, it is about 5 years. It can of course be that a part fails, but this is the case with all laptops.
I'll find something good for you. Most of the time, Lenovo Ideapads are in the price range.
Something like this for example:
Lenovo Ideapad

That would be the cheapest (which is not trash) that you can get. At the price you "only" get a 256gb ssd. For office etc. It is easily enough. For a few games too.
