Chipset fault?

Can a defective chipset be the reason why everything works in a notebook, i.e. LED, fan only a permanent black screen takes place

Ke

If you connect an external monitor, what then?

Fr

Display damaged? Illumination of the display defective? Shine a flashlight on it after booting. If what you can see, the display light is defective, etc.
Chipset defective, nothing would work anymore

Dr

I took the notebook to diagnose the problem and was told that the graphics card was 100% broken, so I got a new MXM graphics card with the same connector for the graphics card slot and ordered thermal pads and thermal paste in pairs In addition, at the service I was told that the mainboard had also been tested and that 90% were problem-free and 10% not stable, so the service man claimed that the chipset could also be defective. His explanation for this claim is, that the graphics card only breaks with the heater (don't know what it means by heater) and the chipset and graphics card are so close (i.e. In the mainboard) and are cooled by the same cooling system. Is this claim true, because the LED goes on when starting on and the cooler goes on as usual, only I have a permanent black screen

Ma

I tend to guess a defective screen or a software error. I already had. For me it was enough to remove the hard drive and then reinstall it. A loose connection of the screen can also be. Tilt it a little forwards and backwards, if you somehow get a picture, that confirms the suspicion. The chipset should have little to do with it.

Don't have a graphics card?

Ma

Who did you take the part to to be repaired? Sounds a bit strange… The graphics card, well, that could be. Obviously she wasn't. The chipset? Unlikely. Is that over, nothing works anymore. The cooling? Possible, but you could simply swap the fan and that's good. Immediate overheating is actually not that easy. I keep tapping the screen. Are you getting into the BIOS somehow? Have you tried this before

Ma

One more thing: Does the screen get a little brighter when you turn it on? Or does it stay just as black as when it is switched off?

Dr

But even have the new one in there, but I'm still waiting for the thermal paste and the thermal pads for the heat pipe

Dr

So the screen is COMPLETELY dead, no matter what you do, on ext. Connect the monitor, change the bios battery, etc. But it still remains black and I can't see if I'm getting into the BIOS because I can't see anything

Ma

So the external monitor doesn't work either? Well, then I guess this thing is junk… Unfortunately it will not be possible to repair it… Do you still have a guarantee? Did you connect the external monitor correctly?

Ke

I just don't understand why you didn't let the dealer swap the card and screw it yourself around? Now you have more of a total loss.

Dr

I didn't tweak it myself and the dealer didn't have any spare parts

Dr

Maybe you have social media then I could listen to the WhatsApp spoken audios that the service man sent me

Ke

What is the brand for a notebook manufacturer? How old?

Dr

If you have social media there, I can explain it to you better
