Before I sell my laptop, I would like to erase all private data from the internal SSD. An operating system should NOT be installed, so I would like to format the hard drive completely.
After a short research it turns out that, for example, DBAN is not suitable for SSDs. On the other hand, the in-house tool from Samsung (Magican) recognizes the hard drive (samsung mzvlq512halu-000h1), but the "secure erase" option says: The selected drive does not support this function.
The tool was loaded directly from Samsung and the hard drive should not be older than half a year.
Would appreciate any help.
I think the CCLeaner once had such a function, but the SSD has to be connected to another computer.
Alternatively, it should already be sufficient to format via Windows, but to remove the checkmark for fast formatting. At least once I've heard that the slow formatting isn't all that bad.
If the SSD is the C: drive, Windows can't format it. You would lose the ground under your own feet.
I suggest using a Linux live CD. Nothing is installed, the CD runs independently.
Alternatively, you can start the installation with a Windows installation sCD, formatting is included. Then cancel halfway through the power switch.
Thanks for the suggestions. I have now created a bootable USB stick with Win10edu and formatted it directly at the start (before loading Windows).
