I recently bought a new laptop. When I wanted to delete a character to the left of the cursor and usually used the reset key, not only the left of the cursor but also the right of it was deleted. I could find nothing on the Internet or the settings of Windows. The problem occurs not only in word but in all programs.

You just have to learn the interplay of three keys:
the key above the enter key (arrow to the left with a cross) deletes everything to the left of the cursor. Simultaneous delete in two directions is impossible, you have somehow unnoticed while other buttons operated simultaneously.
on the right you will find the "einfg" and "delete" keys on the right side, if you operate the wrong one, it may happen that you follow such.
