Touchpad is not working anymore?

My problem is my touchpad so the bottom of the middle just would not work anymore I've even looked in the settings there's the part is on and whenever I start my laptop is at the top of a picture where the mouse pad with a finger and a Pictured is the Red Cross. Can one help me there?
