I have recently been recording videos with my Canon EOS M50 and am very annoyed because pretty much all videos with a length of approx. More than 5 minutes are 0 kB on the computer and can't be accessed on the laptop, so I can't can edit. I have already looked at some forum posts and downloaded and tried 3-4 video repair tools and nothing worked.
I film in 4k and use San Disk Extreme memory cards and am amazed because with my GoPro Hero 7 I always film football games in full in 4K and the videos have not been damaged once and I have always been able to call them up on the computer.
Why is that now? At the camera? On the memory card? Is there any way to solve the problem? I plan to shoot more videos, and I plan to shoot them longer.
I look forward to an answer!
Did you just accidentally create shortcuts? These can be recognized by the fact that they also have a small arrow on their symbol.
This sometimes happens when you just drag files from one window to another.
Try to "copy" the photos again with a right click and then "paste" them in the target folder!
Do you actually connect the camera to the computer to transfer files or do you just read out the memory card?
Hi and thanks for the quick reply!
I connect the camera to the laptop using a USB cable. If I then go to the Canon folder and only go to the file with the mouse, the file size of 0 kB is already displayed. So even before copying it to the computer, I can see that I can't call it up.
But thanks anyway!
Do you have an adapter with which you could read out the memory card directly on the PC?
Or do you have another memory card? The currently used one may have a defect.
Repeated deletion and overstoring can ensure that remnants of files are left behind. Maybe it helps to simply format the memory card.
Thanks again for your answers!
I have now tried a new memory card and also formatted it and then tried it again. Nevertheless it is the case that long videos with 0 kB are displayed on the laptop.
The problem only occurs with videos of a certain length / size. (about 5 minutes) I can play everything below that without any problems.
No, unfortunately I don't have an adapter to read out the memory card.
Nevertheless, thank you very much for your time and effort!
With pleasure.
Hopefully you can still find a solution 🤔
