At home I have a PC where I work hard and have my important files.
But now I'm on the road a lot more and have a laptop on which I can work on the go.
Is there any program or way (preferably free) how can I automatically sync these important files between both devices?
Am in the music business and have audio files on my home PC. When I'm on the road, it may be that I'm creating or getting new audio files, and I do not always want to manually pull them back and forth between the two devices.
That's why I'm looking for a way that automatically does this for me by simply selecting a folder where everything should be synchronized back and forth.
With Windows 10 this should be realized with OneDrive. Since you have in Explorer an extra OneDrive folder in which you could save your music files and automatically syncs with your folder on the notebook.
AllWaySync, freefilesync, Synkron (over the network or direct connection).
Or OwnCloud (online).
But he is limited or am I wrong? And does it work automatically?
I would recommend you buy a NAS, especially if you are a Windows user. A (N) etwork (A) ttached (S) torage is a kind of server that you e.g. Can set up at your home, or rent from an online provider. There are very small (not power-intensive) devices for the home, where you can attach a hard drive and then mount them under Windows as a "network drive". This means that you can access the data on the online hard drive with all computers / laptops (even mobile phones / tablets) and even from anywhere in the world (assuming you have internet access).
I downloaded free file sync a few days ago but it does not work that way
Suppose I'm now on the way and create a few new files and then wants to have them directly on the PC when I'm back home, then it works automatically?
Hmm. It works for everyone I know and who uses it. Clearances, network and firewall must of course be set up accordingly.
If you have an internet connection, they are IMMEDIATELY uploaded to the server and they will appear directly on the PC. Of course, there's also the option of later dragging the files to the server if you do not have internet access. But once the file is on the server, it will appear on any device connected to the NAS.
Yes is limited, but syncing works automatically. But I think that there's hardly a way to spend your project without spending a little money. Here are the possible subscription models: https://onedrive.live.com/...-DE/plans/
That may be it.
