Are there USB RAM adapters?

I have a laptop that has 8GB of RAM in total. I would like to have more RAM, but because both slots have already been filled, I can't. So I ask: is there any USB adapter for RAM?

Po

How about 2 x 8 GB instead of 2 x 4 GB

ka

I don't want to do that. I still have a 4GB bar and want to use it

A USB connection is queried with 1000HZ, the latency simply would be much too high compared to the normal access time of the RAM to give you an advantage, even if there were such a thing. Just get 2 RAM modules, each with double capacity, if your mainboard supports it.

There's the possibility to make "RAM drives" via "ReadyBoost" in Windows USB sticks. However, the performance of this is rather questionable. USB is just too slow to really function as RAM.

ka

Yes, I wonder but if there's an adapter for RAM bars.

br

No, there's no such thing as completely senseless.

Vi

Gabs times with 32MB or so back in the days. Nowadays you are there and found that the USB does not bring.

USB is just too slow to really function as RAM.

Something like that does not exist. You can simply replace the previous RAM bars with those with more clock.
