What is this Windows security key?

My login settings indicate that I can insert a physical security key into the USB "hole" to unlock my laptop, but what does it mean, or what is this key and how much does it cost?

Sn

A security key is a physical device that you can use to log in instead of your username and password. Because it is used in addition to a fingerprint or PIN, even a person who has received your security key can't log in without the PIN or fingerprint you created. Security keys can usually be purchased from retailers who sell PC accessories.

Conclusion: Use the key ONLY with a fingerprint scanner and / or PIN!

If you don't know what the FIDO key is all about, how could you set it up on "your" laptop?

Somehow I have my doubts that it is your laptop, otherwise you would have already used such a key to set up.

Ha

I didn't set it up… I just wanted to do it, but first I want to know what that is

Oh, then I misunderstood, you only need this thing if you are paranoid or keep state secrets on your laptop😁

Ha

But the laptop is then more difficult to hack or unlock for unauthorized persons such as parents or? XD
